For books, tapes and web site info that I use in my classes go to Resources
Yoga For beginners I like to recommend books and tapes that have really good instructions. But I also caution beginners to take a class with a good teacher (check credentials!) and get some help with material in books and tapes. Until you have a fair amount of experience, it is NOT a good idea to try postures from books or tapes without some pointers from a teacher. That said, here are some of my faves (if any of the boxes just have generic amazon info instead of the book, click "refresh" a time or two):
This is a very easygoing presentation of the postures:
I love this one and it's so simple and easy I'd almostrecommend it to beginners. And yet even for those with experience,it gently works whole body.
This one's a little more advanced but photos and explanations are good as is info about chakras:
This videotape is so simple, so well explained that even a beginner can follow along (though I still recommend help from a teacher. Really excellent!
